TRUE INDIGO

'True Indigo' (indigofera tinctoria) - (often referred to as 'Black Henna') is an indigenous plant of India where the small shrub is cultivated extensively in the southern-most regions. It is used generally as a hair dye for grey coverage along with Henna to achieve all shades of brown through to jet black.  It is suitable for all hair types but gives best results on brown hair/or greying hair.  The colour you will achieve with Indigo is a very natural colour and varies according to the method of application.  It provides tone-on-tone colour, it will not give you that 'false looking 'block' of colour.  It can also be used to tone down red /brassy coloured hair.
It 's effect is very versatile, being capable of producing a variety of colour effects from reddish brown through to mid/dark brown/darkest brown to natural-near black & jet-black.  It will give good coverage on grey hair if used after a Henna application..  For brown hair you can mix Indigo with Henna & Amla Powder & apply.

Indigo is not recommended for use alone on lighter shades of hair, ie. highlighted-blonde/light-brown hair colour without using henna and/or  doing a strand test first.  If you have dark hair, the application of Indigo will enhance & deepen your colour.   Indigo will wash out gradually. You will need subsequent applications to maintain the colour effect.  The effect will deepen & darken with each subsequent application.
